Leaving Edinburgh

New blog entry! Leaving Edinburgh

Leaving Edinburgh seemed like a very gradual process. When I left Wellington although I knew I was going for ages, I only had 4 weeks in which to pack up most of my stuff and pack, but as I was moving out of my flat before actually leaving Edinburgh it seemed like I had ages to get rid of stuff, send things home, and then finally have another 5 weeks to hone down what I was actually taking with…

Busy month!

New blog entry: Busy month!

I’ve been super busy since I last posted! The summer job is going pretty well, and I’ve only got another 2 days left with them at the beginning of next week before the kids head back to school. The summer seems to have gone by very quickly, but I guess it’s only 6 and a half weeks.

In the 4th week of the holidays I had a trip to Cardiff which was absolutely perfect. I stayed with a bookcrossing…

See the first two pictures? Think they look familiar?

They are. Those are the Cliffs of Insanity from the Princess Bride.

How didn’t I know that!?!?

Octopus have no real bones in their body, except for a tough beak made from chitin, so they can squeeze into small places when fleeing predators. They’re highly intelligent creatures and have shown to demonstrate observational learning, they’re known for escaping from their aquarium enclosures and occasionally breaking into others for a snack.

Also, captive octopi occasionally show affection to their caretakers after an extended absence.

They’re boneless puppies! <3_<3

I remember hearing a while ago that if its beak can fit through its entire body can

another fun fact, if octopi in captivity get too bored they just stop eating untill they die, thats why you always see them with childrens toys in their aquariums or boxes they have to open

thats also why they try to break out to go somewhere else more interesting

i swear i learn more on tumblr than i do in school

Another interesting fact is that apparently one of the the plural forms of the word octopus is octopodes!

The Fault In Our Stars- Troye Sivan

Buy the song. All proceeds go toward PMHF.

I will long remember when I was on the set of the TFiOS movie and Frank, the Transportation Captain, was like, “I loved your book, but I really loved that song about your book by the Australian guy Troye.”

All my preconceptions—about Frank, about Troye, about the people working on the movie—were upended.

What a magical week it has been. What a gift Troye has given us and the children at PMH. If you don’t know the song…enjoy.
